Nonstop swimming for thirty hours set Limca Book of Records by Dr Rajgopal Kalani
Dr Rajgopal Kalani, a pediatrician by profession, on Sunday set a record by swimming nonstop for thirty hours at PMC swimming pool here.
After verification, the feat will figure in 2012 Limca Book of World Records. He stepped into the pool at 10 am, on May 28, and came out today, at 4 pm.
15 examiners observed the feat. District administration sources said the evidence of the feat will be sent to the committee of Limca Book of World Records for verification.
He kept himself hydrated during the swim by drinking black tea, juice, and water.
Neel Joshi and Deep India's Youngest MBA Graduates students of Thakur Vidya Mandir School at Kandivali East in Mumbai. Neel Joshi, 13 and his brother Deep, 11, class eight and class six students of Thakur Vidya Mandir School at Kandivali East in Mumbai are on their way to become India's youngest MBA graduates as they have finished their first semester MBA with distinction from an institute affiliated to a U.S. varsity. The teen prodigies are pursuing their MBA from the Indian Management School and Research centre (IMSR) affiliated to the University of Northeast Virginia, reports Bangalore Mirror.
While Neel has cleared his first year in Finance Management with 91 percent, Deep has cleared the first semester of MBA in Operation Management by securing 75 percent.
It was a meeting with the representative of IMSR at an education fair, which helped them realize their dreams. "I had taken a risk in admitting the boys against all rules," admits Pravin Parmar, director, IMSR. "They have both scored very good marks and I am confident they will become the youngest MBAs in the country," he added.
"We had sought admission for MBA courses at the University of Mumbai and various other institutes in USA and UK. But everyone turned us down saying we were too young to enroll for management courses. They also told us we must approach them after post-graduation and gaining three years of working experience," says Neel.
Deep said, "I joined the institute but never worried about the results. I only aimed at studying management. My brother and I dream of getting a prize from President Pratibha Patil after we complete the course. I am also preparing for my MBA first year final exam which is scheduled in January."
The boys had exhibited extraordinary talents at their very young age. They could recite entire chapters from the Bhagvad Gita, Hanuman Chalisa and even the Rig Veda when they were in kindergarten. They have also shown their excellence in extracurricular activities such as carom in which they represent Air India at national level events. Neel wants to become a cardiac surgeon, while Deep wishes to be a pilot. The boys' father Ajit Joshi is a civil engineer.
RED FM 93.5 Radio Network in India set Limca Book of Record, As yesterday the pioneer in Mobile phone- Nokia completed its 15 years in India, it was Red FM – one of the most heard FM channel in country that celebrated it. The day was celebrated in an unusual way with LIVE callers calling in on the channel and sharing their Nokia moment with red FM's RJ.
The event was interesting in a way because this activity was aired on the huge network of 47 stations across the country. They even attempted to create a new record in Limca Book of Records.

World's Highest trees plantation set Guinness World Record Ahmadabad, India
Department of Forest and Environment, Government of Gujarat, Gujarat Pollution Control Board and the NGO Society for Environment Protection have jointly chalked out a programme to celebrate Swarnim Gujarat Prakruti Utsav aiming to launch the Harit Paryavaran Mitra (Green- Ambassador) campaign from 26th July at Sanskar-Kendra Paldi, Ahmedabad. Celebrations would begin with the launching of Sapling Plantation drives, it has prepared a detail programme, as part of it on 27th they would take out a cycle-rally, on 27th the unique Go-Green and Stop at Red-Light Traffic Awareness campaign, an exhibition is also to be held highlighting the advantages of Green-Technologies -promoting Solar Energy Gadgets water-conservation awareness and appropriate techniques of Waste-Disposals, on 30th Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation would launch a Pilot Project. A national seminar on Green Building is to be held on 31st July. Massive plantation drive and Green-Ambassador campaign is aimed to promote the idea of one-person one-tree campaign. Industrial houses, NGOs and associations are devoting hearty contributions.
Today on 31st of July 2010, the city of Ahmedabad is going to attempt to break a Guinness book record for plantation of maximum trees in a day. The target is plantation of whopping seven lakh trees at as many as 400 places across the city and outskirts. Existing record holder the city of Islamabad the capital of Pakistan is thus challenged by Ahmedabad.
A video recording or photo documentation will be made at the places Where more than 1000 trees are planted. This exercise is part of Guinness book requirements.
The joint exercise of planting maximum number of trees in a day has been organized by Gujarat’s Forest department, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, AUDA, various schools, number of organizations, NSS, NCC cadets, industrial houses, government employees, semi-government employees, various associations, NGOs, environment lovers and the citizen of Ahmedabad.
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has set up a helpline number 32984555 for anyone who wants to volunteer in this event. The helpline will run for seven days upto 7 August between 8 am to 9 pm.

In an effort to spread Gandhi's message of peace and non -violence, about 255 students from a school in Coimbatore city of southern India's Tamil Nadu state dressed up as Mahatma Gandhi.
Draped in white 'dhotis', or unsewn cloth, and sporting fake moustaches and spectacles they walked along holding bamboo canes and singing the 'Vande Mataram' song.
The students set a record and got the event registered in Limca Book of Records, a record book of Indian origin.
"For them it is a question of giving inspiration to the rest of the country's children that not to forget the fact that Mahatma Gandhi was the father of the Nation after all," said Aarthy, Editor, Limca Book of Record.
In keeping with the spirits of the event, 52 of the 255 students chose to actually shave their heads. Others covered their hair with cloth to look as if they were bald.
"Gandhi is the father of our nation and he loved peace and non-violence. I am very proud to be as Gandhi for a day, for this Guinness World Record, very proud," said participant Karthic Barathi.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, better known as Mahatma Gandhi, pioneered the philosophy of nonviolent resistance and was a major figure in the struggle for Indian independence. A Hindu radical assassinated him in 1948 in New Delhi.

World's Largest Pen set World Record by M.S. Acharya in Hyderabad, India
The pen is mightier than the sword, but a man in Hyderabad, India, has just made a pen that, in a pinch, could make a mighty fine weapon of its own.
Social studies teacher M.S. Acharya commissioned the construction of a 16-foot-tall, 1-foot-wide brass pen that he calls "Bharatiya Pali," or "India's Pen," to honor the government's passage of the Right to Education law.
The work of making the pachyderm-sized pen was done by two Hyderabad artists, Ratnam and Malikarajan, who etched various Indian dance styles and musical instruments all over it.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the trio started working on the pen in early February and spent nearly 450 working hours and 250,000 rupees (about $5,555 U.S.) getting the pen just right.
"We worked Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for a total of 56 days," Acharya said. "And every penny that the pen cost has been paid from my pocket to these two artists, who have put tremendous effort and labor in completing this project.
"Since it is the token of our love and appreciation, none of us complained about undertaking so much effort."
It started with sheets of brass, cut and soldered into 10 cylindrical structures. After cleaning the surface, the artists began etching.
So what do you do with such a large pen?
Well, it's so big that writing the great Indian novel is probably out of the question, so Acharya plans to have it serve a more symbolic purpose: honoring India's new Right to Education law, which guarantees education to every child, ages 6 to 14, by making education a fundamental right. The law came into force on April 1.

Indian Beard Artist Sameer Mehta world records 2010
An Indian businessman has made the record books - after sporting 57 different beard designs in four years.
Sameer Mehta, 37, of Gujarati, visits a barber every other day for around two hours to perfect his intricate designs.
But he says it can take around a month, and up to £60, to complete each new design.
"I use my beard to convey things without actually saying them," Mr Mehta told the Times of India.
His designs have included an IPL tribute in the shape of cricket bats and balls, a tricolour flag for Independence Day, a heart for Valentine's Day and a voting symbol during last year's elections.
The idea first came to him four years ago when he was lying on a hospital bed after having his appendix removed.
He thought that men, compared to women, had very few fashion choices and decided to use his facial hair to make a statement.
When Mr Mehta sported his very first design - which he called a six half eggs beard - passers-by would snigger and his own wife refused to be seen with him.
However, he ignored the criticism and now people stop him in the street to take his photograph - and even his wife's frosty feelings have thawed.
And, after entering the Limca Book of Records, India's version of the Guinness Book of Records, he is vowing to carry on and clock up 100 designs.
