The world's largest biceps belong to Mostafa Ismail (Egypt) and were measured for left arm flexed at 64.77 cm (25.5 in) and non-flexed 62.23 cm (24.5 in) and for right arm flexed at 63.5 cm (25 in) and non-flexed 60.96 cm (24 in). The measurements were taken in Franklin, Massachusetts, USA which is where Mostafa now resides.

Moustafa Ismail of Massachusetts says having arms as wide as an adult man's waist comes with plenty of unexpected challenges, including difficulty in finding shirts whose sleeves would fit his 31-inch muscles without dwarfing his 5ft 11 frame.

Moustafa Ismail's eye-popping biceps and triceps are a result of a punishing workout regime that began after a guest at his uncle's wedding mocked his overweight frame in his native Egypt.

More than a decade later, the 24-year-old bodybuilder says he was surprised by recognition in the 2013 edition of the Guinness World Records as owner of the largest upper-arm muscles on earth.

"They call me Popeye, the Egyptian Popeye," an amused Ismail said of the media reaction after the announcement in September. But unlike the cartoon character, he says he "hates spinach and loves chicken".

Poultry, seafood and shakes provide nearly seven pounds of protein he needs every day to nourish the massive muscles, Ismail said while working out at the gym in the Boston suburb of Milford.

About nine pounds of carbohydrates, at least three gallons of water as well as various mineral and vitamin supplements account for the remaining sources of sustenance, he says.

Ismail quietly begun building his muscles in his Egyptian hometown of Alexandria before moving to the United States in 2007 and settling in the Massachusetts town of Franklin, located about 27 miles southwest of Boston.

Keen to pay for his gym membership and hefty dietary requirements, he worked two jobs as a gas station attendant for several years. He gave up one job after his Colombian wife complained that he was pushing himself too hard.

And then Guinness World Records came calling, offering him an all-expenses-paid trip to London for a signature appearance with the world's shortest woman and other anomalies highlighting the latest edition of world records.

Ismail said he was stunned by a barrage of allegations from strangers who claimed that he either used steroids or had implants in his arms. Others speculated that he might have injected his muscles with a synthetic oil substance known as synthol that is used by bodybuilders to artificially fluff muscular tissues.

World's shortest woman sets Guinness World Records by Jyoti Amge of Nagpur, India

The Guinness Book of World Records named Jyoti Amge as the world’s shortest living woman. Amge is just 62.8 centimeters tall, 6.2 cm shorter than 22-year old American Bridgette Jordan, who has held the title since September 2011.

Indian student Jyoti Amge is 18 years old and stands just 24.7 inches tall. Amge was conferred the title on Friday as she celebrated her 18th birthday in the city of Nagpur. “It is wonderful to celebrate my 18th birthday with a new world record, it’s like an added birthday present,” said Amge.

A teary-eyed Amge, dressed in one of her finest saris, called the honour an “extra birthday present” and said she felt grateful for being small, as it had brought her recognition. After receiving a plaque, she and her guests cut a birthday cake.

Representatives from Guinness World Records measured her at a ceremony attended by about 30 relatives and friends in Nagpur.

Rob Molloy, official adjudicator for Guinness World Records told: “She’s 62.8 centimetres. She was measured three times over the last 24 hours as height can vary slightly according to the time of day. Doctors measured her in our presence at three different times, both standing up and lying down. We took an average.”

According to Guinness, Amge’s two foot height is due to a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia. Achondroplasia has restricted her height to that of an average four-month-old baby girl. She has just passed her Class 10 exam and intends to take up acting full time.

“I am doing a Kannada film and will be shooting in Mysore soon. I will also be in Europe for two months in the coming summer,” she said.

When asked if she would join an acting school, Amge said she knows the basics well and does not need to learn it.

“I would do exactly what my director expects out of the scene. What is the need to learn something in a school when you know? You learn it much better on the job,” she asked.

Amge dreams of becoming a film star as well as going to university when she finishes high school.

World’s largest feet set Guinness World Record by Brahim Takioullah


PARIS: The first thing that people notice about Brahim Takioullah is not his feet — which he hopes will make him famous — but his enormous height. He stands more than eight foot (246 cm) tall.

Judges from Guinness World Records came to France to measure him and confirmed his suspicion that he had record-breaking feet — his left measuring one foot three inches (38.1 cm) in length and his right, one foot 2.76 inches.

Takioullah cannot stand up straight in the small flat he shares with his mother in the Paris suburbs, has difficulty getting into a taxi or the Metro, and can never move around without attracting attention.

But he is surprisingly good humoured about his situation, smiling and posing for cellphone snaps and politely answering questions about his condition, a rare medical problem that he hopes to cure through surgery.

Takioullah is from Morocco, and grew up in a small village — grew up fast.

In one year in his teens he put on more than three feet (one metre) in a spurt.

Now 29, no-one thought to investigate his unusual size until he was 18.

“The school doctor noticed that I was this enormous size and asked me to get some blood tests. I did that, and I was diagnosed with a very rare condition called acromegaly,” he told AFP.

Acromegaly is a pituitary gland disorder that causes the body to produce excessive growth hormone. The brain tumour can lead to other problems aside from great size, and Takioullah was advised to seek surgery.

But first he decided to finish his university studies in geography. When he began treatment, he was already huge and closing in on the world’s tallest man, eight-foot three-inch (2.51 metre) Sultan Kosen of Turkey.

Five years ago, a French doctor brought him to Paris for treatment, and he is not expected to reach Sultan’s height record.

Takioullah contacted Guinness himself to challenge for the record, and says he is proud to have it recognised, though daily life is not without its problems.

He hopes one day to have a specially built car he could drive himself, but for now even getting a pair of shoes stretches his budget — he takes a European size 58, which no shop has ever stocked.

“I always need them made-to-measure and they’re very expensive. I once asked a cobbler to make me some shoes and he said it would cost 3,500 euros (5,270 dollars),” he sighed.

This week he met an orthopedic podiatrist to be fitted with a specially made pair designed to support his huge weight.

“The thing is, when you have a very very large foot, even the machine to make the components isn’t necessarily big enough. So we really had to work right on the edge of the machinery.” said Jerome Liegeon.

French doctors are working to reduce Takioullah’s brain tumour, and he hopes his newfound fame will help him find the specialist treatment he needs.

Staysha, 22, who performs in shows across the strip, was attempting to have 3,600 piercings in her back, arms and legs but decided enough was enough after 3,200 had been put in at Inktoxicated Tattoos in the Nevada city.

Helping in her bid was body piercer Bill 'Danger' Robinson and his piercing assistant 'Jenn O Cide'. The record attempt is still awaiting confirmation by the Guinness Book of Records before it becomes official.

Ms Randall, who perhaps unsurprisingly lists Nine Inch Nails among her favourite bands, also includes escape acts and burlesque into her shows where she performs feats demonstrating her physical strength.

The previous record for the most body piercings in one sitting was 3,100.

From almost the moment Le Yati Min was born, her mother knew the girl had a little something extra.

Born with 12 fingers and 14 toes, Le may be the most "digitally enhanced" person in the world. Now, the 16-month-old girl's family in impoverished Myanmar is seeking a Guinness World Record to prove it.

A neighbor is helping her mother apply to claim the record hearing that a boy from India currently hold bragging rights for the most digits, with 12 fingers and 13 toes.

Polydactylism — being born with an extra finger or toe — is fairly unusual, but it is even more rare for someone to have a spare functional digit on both hands and feet, as Le does.

Le lives with her family in a small wooden house on the outskirts of the Southeast Asian country's former capital of Yangon, where she runs around with seven toes on each foot.

Proud mom Phyo Min Min Soe, 26, said Tuesday that she'd be happen to see Le gain a world record, but even without that, her daughter already has a happy life, and even some natural advantages.

"She seems to have a stronger grip on things — so she doesn't drop things much," she says, as Le plays nearby with a mobile phone.

According to the Guinness World Records website, the record for most fingers and toes for a living person is currently held by two people in India, who have 12 fingers and 13 toes each.

Current Guinness World Record holder Chen Kecai of China competed alongside Jin in Monday's contest in China's Hunan province. Kecai reportedly lasted 118 minutes, besting his record-setting 2010 showing by 10 minutes.

But officials pulled Chen out of the box when monitoring devices showed the 53-year-old's body temperature falling, according to ITN News.

Both competitors outlasted Dutch citizen Wim Hof, who in a separate event held in Hong Kong reportedly managed to stay in an icy bath for 115 minutes earlier this week.

Amge was last measured by Guinness officials at a height of about 24.3 inches -- significantly shorter than current world record holder Elif Kocaman of Turkey, who stands about 28.6 inches.

Despite her short stature, Amge says she's an ordinary teenager.

"I am proud of being small. I love the attention I get," she told the Sunday Mirror. "I'm just the same as other people. I eat like you, I dream like you. I don't feel different."

So far, her height hasn't stood in her way. Like normal teenagers in the city of Nagpur, Amge goes to school and likes spending her time listening to music and shopping.

"When I first went to school, everyone was so big I used to get scared but I'm OK now, I like it," she told the Daily Mail. "I have a different desk and chair that were made for me. I'm a normal student."

Amge has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia, which researchers believe occurs in just one out of every 25,000 births, according to Fox News.

Terri wedded husband Myron, whom she looks up to as her guardian spirit, in 1986. And then at the age of 32 she built up severe arthritis in her knees and was incapable to walking more than a couple of steps at one time.

"Hospitals don't have equipment to adjudge someone of her girth.We thought that it might be possible for Terri to have an MRI at the Cleveland Zoo in the machine used for the elephants and rhinos but the zoo doesn't accept a permission for humans."

Terry's family, consisting of her loving hubby and 2 daughters, the first of which is 30 yrs old, hope that the trouble with the equipment will be solved earlier it's too late.

Most Number of Kidney Stone Removal from Single Patient World Record set by Indian Doctor.

In what can only be termed as a medical marvel, Dr Ashish Rawandale-Patil, a urologist from Dhule, Maharashtra, gained a place in 'Guinness Book of World Records' on Oct 20 for removing a record number of 172,155 kidney stones from a single kidney.

The world record feat was carried out on 8 December last year at the Institute of Urology at Dhule, when Dr. Ashish performed the Herculean task of removing over a lakh stones from a single kidney of his patient, Dhanraj Wadile.

Dr Patil stated, “The Guinness team took time to verify world-wide records. The earlier record holder, a doctor
from Nashik, had removed 14,098 kidney stones.”

He added, "The certificate from the Guinness Records officials only came 10 days ago so we waited this long to make the announcement. We are very excited.”

Wadile suffering from rare birth defect
Wadile, 45, had been enduring acute pain for over six months and had stopped eating and going to work. He had consulted numerous doctors and was also taking medicines
for the pain before he approached Dr. Ashish.

A thorough examination revealed that Wadile was suffering from the rare birth defect called Pelvi-Ureteric Junction obstruction where his kidney was abnormally positioned in the pelvic and had an obstruction.

In addition, the clinical investigations revealed the patient
had a large number renal stones.

After the patient was cleared as medically fit, the doctors worked out the details of the surgical procedure to be performed.

A 4-hour complex operation
The doctors used both open surgery and flexible endoscopy in the complex four-hour operation. The team of medical experts working on Wadile was amazed at the number of stones that were removed from the patient.

Wadile felt relieved immediately after surgery. The stones removed comprised of calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate and varied in size from one millimetre to 2.5 cms.

Dr Patil stated, “The surgery was complicated due to the number of kidney stones. It was difficult to remove so many stones from his kidney. These stones were anywhere between the size of 1mm to 2.5cm.

“The possibility of leaving some stones behind was one of the risks as it could have jeopardized the surgery. Bigger stones had to be tackled individually. We also did a plastic surgery to widen the opening of the kidney.”

Counting the stones another mammoth task
Following the surgery, the doctors faced another mammoth task of counting the stones. For this purpose they employed a diamond worker who counts and verifies diamonds on a regular basis to team up with one of the doctors.

The counting process of the stones took nearly three daily for well over a month to be completed.

Dr Patil stated, "I then wrote to the Guinness Book of World Records and they asked me to send the stones and related documents. They verified it and wrote back to me in October telling me that I have made a record".

He added "This is an important milestone for me and my institute. It is the combined effort of my team that could take this small town to an international level.”

Five British siblings are set to enter the record books as the world's oldest family - after racking up nearly 500 years between them.

The Bartletts were born to Victorian parents in the early 1900s before the common use of electric light or gas cookers.

Together they have seen off 19 Prime Ministers, five Monarchs and two World Wars.

Today Kathleen, 102, Gladys, 100, Lillian, 94, Leonard, 92, and Courtney, 86, are still around to witness the online revolution and birth of 3D television.


The quintet currently have a combined age of 474 years are now preparing to enter the record books as the world's oldest living siblings.
Their family put the achievement down to decades of hard work.

Gladys' daughter Lucille Ademante, 68, of Bristol, said: 'They are truly remarkable.

'They have all been pretty active for most of their lives but I would not say their lives have been easy.

'Our whole family is really proud of them - everyone thinks they are fantastic.'  Oldest daughter Kathleen Clark was born in 1908 - the year Herbert Asquith took office in Downing Street - and went out to work as a maid the age of 12.

She retired after years of factory work in her 70s and celebrated her 100th birthday two years ago with family at her nursing home in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.

A Nepalese teen who is the size of a toddler turned 18 on Thursday and entered the record books as the world's shortest man.

Khagendra Thapa Magar is 67.08 centimeters (26.4 inches) and weighs 6.5 kilograms (13 pounds), said Marco Frigatti, vice president of records at Guinness World Records, who flew in from London for the recognition.

"I can confirm that as of today Khagendra Thapa Magar is the officially shortest man in the world," Fragatti said amidst cheers.

The teen underwent a series of medical examinations over the past two days in his hometown of Pokhara to ascertain his height and weight.

A businessman discovered Magar four years ago in remote Baglung district.

Since then, he has been the center of attraction at fairs across the country, with organizers paying to exhibit him.

"I am very happy with the recognition," his father, Rup Bahadur Thapa Magar, told CNN by phone. "For the last few days, Khagendra has been saying that he is a big man now."

The businessman who discovered him said the recognition was years in the making.

"This is the end of a journey that began four years ago," Min Bahadur Rana said.

The first time he applied, Guinness officials told him he had to be 18, Rana said.

Magar replaces Edward Nino Hernandez, 24, of Colombia, who measures 70.21 centimeters (27.4 inches). Hernandez had been declared the shortest living man after Chinese national He Pingping died in March.

Magar is a resident of Pokhara, 200 kilometers (124 miles) west of the capital, Kathmandu.

Walter Breuning has blown the candles out on his birthday cake 113 times, and today, he’ll make it 114. Breuning, a Montana resident, is the world’s oldest living man, and will celebrate his 114th birthday tonight.

The invite only birthday party will include two members from the Guinness Book of World Records, who will present Breuning with a copy of the latest edition of the famous book.

    “What Walter has achieved by reaching the age of 114 is no small feat,” said Robert Young, Senior Consultant for Gerontology, Guinness World Records. “Walter officially became the Oldest Man in the World on July 18, 2009, and the fact that he has held this record for over a year is amazing. The 2011 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records is the first edition that recognizes Walter’s accomplishment, and I’m so pleased to personally present him with a copy today.”

According to Market Watch, The Guinness Book of World Records has celebrated 72 women who have reached the age of 114. Breuning is only the 6th male to reach 114.

Eugenie Blanchard of the French island of Saint Barthelemy is the world’s oldest person, beating Breuning by just 6 months.

Breuning was born in 1896, and in his 114 years of earth he has gathered this bit of wisdom.

    “Be good to everybody, be kind to everybody, and help other people,” Breuning said. “The more you do for other people, the better you are going to help yourself. Every day is a good day and make it that way.”

Colin Decker - Longest full-body burn set Guinness World Record by Vancouver stunman

Colin Decker is blazing his way into the Guinness World Record books.

The Vancouver stuntman surpassed the world record for longest full-body burn on the weekend, using his company’s patented fire-retardation gel to accomplish the death-defying feat.

“It was my fourth attempt at it,” Decker told The Province on Monday.Decker credited ideal weather conditions for his successful burn.

Burning from head to toe for three minutes and 27 seconds puts him ahead of Ted Batchelor, who is the current holder of the world record, according to Guinness, with a full-body burn for two minutes and 38 seconds.

When Decker tried to break the record a year ago, he was thwarted by swirling winds.

“They pushed fire in my face all the time,” he recalled. “I had no other choice than to burn the hell out of my face or pull the chute and do it another day.”

Decker, his partner in Fire 4 Hire, Dustin Brooks, and a number of friends pulled off their biggest stunt on Saturday afternoon in the Maple Ridge backyard of a friend.

The friend, another stuntman in the movie industry, “loves a good barbecue,” Decker joked.

He said the heat became too great toward the end of the stunt, but he never panicked.

“I knew where I needed to get to and I knew where my safeties were,” he said.

“At the end, I did the nasty plunge into the pool,” Decker said of a kiddie pool that had been filled with water.

“We had seven people on extinguishers, as well, and an exterior water source.”

The protective gel is a proprietary secret.

Decker and Brooks have performed fiery stunts in about 50 movies, TV productions and live performances since they formed Fire 4 Hire in 2005.

“The trick to the burn is that you have to continually add to the fuel you have on you because you are consuming fuel at an alarming rate,” he confided. (That way, the fire burns the fuel and not the gel.)

The gel developed by Decker and Brooks was nominated for an Oscar in 2007, but did not win the Academy Award for scientific and technical achievement.

“I couldn’t have done it without all the people that surrounded me on Saturday,” he added.

Napoleon Bonaparte's Hair sold for US$13,000 at an auction in New Zealand

A lock of hair cut from Napoleon Bonaparte's head after he died has sold for US$13,000 at an auction in New Zealand.

Extra phone lines were installed for the sale to cope with an expected rush of international buyers seeking to snip up the hair cut from the head of former French Emperor a day after his death in 1821 while he was in exile on the island of St. Helena.

The circle of hair was part of a collection brought to New Zealand in 1864 by Denzil Ibbetson, a British commissary officer and artist.

Ibbetson served on St. Helena during the six years that Napoleon was held on the island after being defeated at the Battle of Waterloo.


The collection of about 40 items, including sketches by Ibbetson of Napoleon on his death bed at the age of 51, was sold by the descendants of Ibbetson.

"The collection has really been in remarkable condition and the family has to be commended for preserving this material for all this time, it's nearly 200 years old," Hamish Coney, managing director of the Art+Object Auction House, told Reuters Television.

"In terms of a historical collection that will be located in New Zealand, it's probably one of the most important collections that has ever been found."

According to the auction house the lock was bought by an unnamed collector in London.

Coney said as well as local interest in New Zealand, there had been interest from Hong Kong, the United States, Lithuania and France.

Indian man Prahlad Jani Claims to have lived without Food or Water for 70 Years

Indian patient Prahlad Jani (Mataji), who claims he has survived without food and water for more than 70 Years.

Indian military scientists are studying an 82-year-old who claims he has not had any food or drink for 70 years.
Prahlad Jani is being held in isolation in a hospital in Ahmedabad, Gurjarat, where he is being closely monitored by India's defence research organization, who believe he may have a genuine quality which could help save lives.


He has now spent six days without food or water under strict observation and doctors say his body has not yet shown any adverse effects from hunger or dehydration.

Mr Jani, who claims to have left home aged seven and lived as a wandering sadhu or holy man in Rajasthan, is regarded as a 'breatharian' who can live on a 'spiritual life-force' alone. He believes he is sustained by a goddess who pours an 'elixir' through a hole in his palate. His claims have been supported by an Indian doctor who specializes in studies of people who claim supernatural abilities, but he has also been dismissed by others as a "village fraud."

India's Defence Research Development Organisation, whose scientists develop drone aircraft, intercontinental ballistic missiles and new types of bombs. They believe Mr Prahlad could teach them to help soldiers survive longer without food, or disaster victims to hang on until help arrives.

"If his claims are verified, it will be a breakthrough in medical science," said Dr G Ilavazhagan, director of the Defence Institute of Physiology & Allied Sciences.

"We will be able to help save human lives during natural disasters, high altitude, sea journeys and other natural and human extremities. We can educate people about the survival techniques in adverse conditions with little food and water or nothing at all."

So far, Mr Prahlad appears to be standing up to scrutiny. He has not eaten or drunk any fluids in six days, and similarly has not passed urine or a stool in that time. He remains fit and healthy and shows no sign of lethargy. Doctors will continue observing him for 15 days in which time they would expect to see some muscle wastage, serious dehydration, weight loss,and fatigue followed by organ failure.

It is common in India for Jains and Hindus to fast, sometimes for up to eight days, without any adverse affects, as part of their religious worship. Most humans cannot survive without food for 50 days. The longest hunger strike recorded is 74 days.

According to Dr Sudhir Shah, who examined him in 2003, he went without food or water for ten days in which urine appeared to be reabsorbed by his body after forming in his bladder. Doubts were expressed about his claim after his weight fell slightly at the end of the trial.

World's Most body piercings by needles set Man World Record - Ed Bruns Wyoming

Ed Bruns stood in front of a crowd taking applause after four hours and 27 minutes of almost constant poking with needles on Sunday evening.

As a total of 1,501 needles shimmered with the light of camera flashes, Bruns' legs began to quake, and the shock began.

It was the shock of being a new Guinness World Record holder with 304 more piercings than the previous attempt.

It was the shock of actually doing something that dozens of people called him crazy for even trying.

And it was a little physical shock from the year-supply of 16-gauge piercing needles still stuck in his arms, back and legs.

Despite some shock, Bruns made the attempt look easy. He never complained and only blinked hard a few times when the piercing artist put needles through the tender skin on the back of his knees.

"It was a little tender down the sides and down the spine," Bruns said. "I thought as soon as we got started, 'It's all over.'"

When piercing artist "Freehand" Robert Benson put needle No. 1,198 - the one that broke the previous record - into the back of Bruns' left leg, his daughter Kailyn Porter rubbed her dad's arm and whispered to him. It looked as though she was comforting him, but in reality, he was comforting the 10-year-old by telling her that it didn't really hurt.

Kailyn says she is proud of her dad and even wants to take him to show-and-tell at her school.

"I knew that he would do it, but I was kind of scared," Kailyn said. "I'm really proud of him."

The piercing began in the large, open studio at Pain for Sale tattoo and piercing at 2:30 p.m. Sunday with more than a hundred people packed into the front of the building to watch. They stood on tiptoes and leaned around corners to catch a glimpse of the zipper-like rows of 50 needles lining Bruns' back that would make history a few hours later.

"Does he get paid for doing this?" a gruff biker asked loudly from the corner of the room.

"Nope," another told him.

The biker was shocked into silence knowing that someone was enduring hours of pain for nothing more than a mention in a record book and some high-fives.

Rose Ward sat nearby the commotion crocheting dishcloths and watching the spectacle. Ward and another notary public were required to be on hand through the entire event to witness and notarize the documentation for the official record.

"I never thought I would ever need to notarize something like this," Ward said as she finished her fourth cloth.

The record will be entered into the books when Guinness receives the video and documentation of Bruns' record.

Benson knew Bruns was tough, but has his doubts about his ability to endure such a punishing session. Although the needles are removed after the attempt, the pain from the piercing often sends people into shock, stopping the record attempt.

"Ed's a freak. I thought he would've whined or something," Benson said. "If we would have let him, he would have slept."

While Bruns took congratulations from friends, one told him that he should take one more needle to make the record 1,502.

"If you want 1,502, you can break the record," Bruns said with a weak laugh.

A few minutes later a group of tattoo and piercing artists began the task of removing 1,500 of the piercings from his body.

Bruns will keep the last one, No. 1,501, on the back of his head with a small barbell through it.

Before 2 years British Doctors Ian Campbell spent a week with Jambik family for studying of his weight gaining and he said that "Jambik's health is dire. When he was five his mum took him to Moscow clinics where we did all the available tests, scans of all organs and tests on hormones. And they showed he is absolutely healthy and his heart, liver and everything else is proportional to his size. Nayla said “I try to feed him healthily. We do not have a We do not have a restriction for sweets and he can have an ice cream if he wants. I am not putting him on a diet, because he needs food - he does sports and he is active all day. But he does not eat only fast food or ice cream or sweets."
