Game Appearances:

* On his Test debut, Sachin Tendulkar was the third youngest debutant (16y 205d). Mushtaq Mohammad (15y 124d) and Aaqib Javed (16y 189d) debuted in Test matches younger than Tendulkar. Since then, there have been 2 players who were younger than Sachin on their Test Cricket debut: Hasan Raza - Pakistan (14y 227d), the current youngest debutant, and Mohammad Sharif - Bangladesh (15y 128d).

* Tendulkar has played the most number of Test Matches (159) for India (Kapil Dev and Rahul Dravid are second with 131 Test appearances each).
* Tendulkar is second in the list of players with most Test caps at 159. Only Steve Waugh (168 Tests) has appeared in more games than Tendulkar.

Runs Scored:

* Highest run scorer in the history of Test cricket with 12773 Test runs. He achieved this feat after surpassing West Indies' Brian Lara against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series, on October 17 , 2008 at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali, India.

* Career Average (1989-2008, 158 Tests, 12,773 runs at 54.58 )

* Became the first Indian to surpass the 11,000 Test run mark and the third International player behind Allan Border and Brian Lara. Lara took 213 innings, Sachin 223 and Border 259.

* Second Indian after Sunil Gavaskar to make over 10,000 runs in Test matches.

* Tendulkar and Brian Lara are the fastest to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket history. Both of them achieved this in 195 innings.

* On 05 April 2009 Sachin Tendulkar (7165) edged past Brian Lara's (5736) world record of runs scored in Tests away from home. Tendulkar achieved this in 90 away Test matches while Lara had scored his runs in 66 away Tests.

* Tendulkar has five calendar years with 1000 or more runs - 2008(1063), 2002 (1392 runs), 1999 (1088 runs), 2001 (1003 runs) and 1997 (1000 runs). Gavaskar is the only other Indian with four seasons of 1000+ runs. Only Tendulkar, Matthew Hayden, Ricky Pointing and Brian Lara have five seasons with 1000 or more runs in Test cricket.

Centuries:

* Highest number of Test centuries (42), overtaking Sunil Gavaskar's record (34) on 10 December 2005 vs Sri Lanka in Delhi. Ricky Ponting has 37 centuries to his credit and Brian Lara has scored 34 Test Centuries.

* When Tendulkar scored his maiden century in 1990, he was the second youngest to score a century. Only Mushtaq Mohammad had scored a century at a younger age by 1990. Tendulkar's record was bettered by Mohammad Ashraful in 2001/02 season. The record for previous youngest Indian centurion was held by Kapil Dev.

* Tendulkar's record of five centuries before he turned 20 is a current world record.

* Tendulkar holds the current record (217 against NZ in 1999/00 Season) for the highest score in Test cricket by an Indian when captaining the side. Gavaskar held the previous record (205 against West Indies in Bombay - 1978/79 season)

* Tendulkar has scored centuries against all Test playing nations. He was the third batman to achieve the distinction after Steve Waugh and Gary Kirsten. The current list also includes Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting, Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis, Adam Gilchrist and Marvan Atapattu.

* Tendulkar's 37th century against Bangladesh during the 2nd Test , made history as the 1st time the top four batsmen of any team had all scored centuries in a single innings. Dinesh Karthik (129), Wasim Jaffer (138) and Rahul Dravid (129) were the other centurions in the innings.

Sheikh Hassan - Fastest Speed Boat Guinness Record

Qatar Marine Sports Federation President Sheikh Hassan bin Jabor al-Thani and Abdullah al-Sulaiti made history for Qatar yesterday when they made it to the Guinness World Records by setting a Trans-Gulf speedboat record.

In calm weather conditions, Sheikh Hassan and al-Sulaiti covered a distance of 315km between Abu Dhabi and Doha in a time of 1hr55min14sec in their twin gas-turbine engine Nor-Tech open boat named Qatar Challenger.

Race enthusiasts were able to follow Qatar Challenger’s progress across the Gulf via a vessel tracking system and a Google Earth programme that had been planned on the federation’s official website in conjunction with Alfa Telecom. This gave the live speeds of the boat and the route taken across the Gulf.

This record has been Sheikh Hassan’s dream for some time now. He had attempted it in 2008 but transmission problems forced him to quit the race then. A hectic schedule of H1 Unlimited Hydroplane and UIM F1 racing left QMSF with little time to prepare for the event last year.

“Sheikh Hassan did an excellent job in balancing the boat as it was a bit bumpy in the beginning. I’m very pleased that we achieved our target with a better timing.”

Guinness World Records adjudicator Jack Brockbank, who was monitoring the record attempt live on the GPS, handed Sheikh Hassan and al-Sulaiti the certificate of accomplishment of the feat.

On behalf of the Guinness World Records, I congratulate Sheikh Hassan and al-Sulaiti for their achievement. None, till date, had attempted such a feat and so Guinness World Records had set a realistic time of three hours to complete this 300km journey for the record. However, they have finished it well under that time and that is creditable,” said Brockbank.

world's tallest horse - Poe the Clydesdale

Poe the Clydesdale may be the world’s tallest horse – and owner Shereen Thompson wants the Guinness Book of World Records to confirm it.

Miss Thompson, who owns a farm in Tupperville, Ontario, measured 10-year-old Poe at 20.2 hands – or 80.8 inches.

The current world record holder, Remington, from Princeton in Texas, measures a mere 80 inches.

Miss Thompson, herself just 5ft 3in, said: “We want to get the Guinness guys here as soon as possible.

“We have known for a while that he could be the tallest horse in the world, we just need to get the official documents that the people in London want to see.

“Poe is 20.2 hands and I know that Remington is 80 inches tall, so that means that Poe has him beat.”

Poe weighs 3000lb (1.5 tons), stands 10 feet tall with head raised, and consumes two bales of hay, 10lb of grain and 75 gallons of water each day.

The huge Clydesdale used to work as a dray horse in London, Ontario, pulling a cart filled with crates of beer. Now Miss Thompson displays the equine giant to amazed onlookers.

She said: “We take him to fairs across Lambton County.

“He is extremely popular, but his size always means people keep a cautious distance from him - although they shoudn't, as he is a real puppy.

“But he does sometime forget his strength and drags me along if he wants to play or go chasing something that has caught his attention.”

Worlds Heaviest Baby Born by Indonesian Woman

An Indonesian woman has given birth to the heaviest baby ever born in the country, a boy weighing in at an eye-watering 19lbs. We take a look at some of the other extreme sizes and shapes the human body can reach.

Heaviest baby ever born, in January 1979 in Ohio, USA, died after just 11 hours. The boy weighed 23lb 12oz. His Canadian mother, Anna Bates, was herself was an unusual woman at 7ft 5in tall.

The heaviest surviving newborn seems to have been a 22lb 8oz boy born to one Carmelina Fedele in Aversa, Italy, in September 1955.

World's Lightest baby ever
Of course, babies are often born prematurely, and before a certain point they are unlikely to survive. But the lightest baby to have survived was Amillia Taylor, who weighed just 10oz – less than a thirtieth of the weight of the Indonesian newborn.

Amillia was born after just 21 weeks and six days in the womb in February 2007 in Miami, Florida, to parents Sonja and William.

World's Heaviest man ever
Jon Brower Minnoch, of Bainbridge Island, Washington, is believed to have been the heaviest man ever to have lived, weighing an estimated 1,400lb or 100 stone – well over half a ton. This is only an approximation as his size meant it was impossible to get him on a scale.

Married with two children, he was also the holder of two other records: greatest weight loss (924lb – almost two-thirds of his body weight); and greatest difference in weight in a married couple, with his wife Jeanette. Jeanette weighed just 110lb (eight stone) – less than 1/12th the weight of her husband. Mr Minnoch died in 1983, aged 42.

The heaviest living man was believed to be Manuel Uribe of Mexico, until he lost more than half his bodyweight following gastric bypass surgery.

World's Heaviest woman ever
Carol Yager of Beecher, Michigan, was the heaviest woman ever to have lived, peaking at 545kg (1,200lb, or 85.8 stone). She also achieved the greatest non-surgical weight loss, losing 520lb in three months. She died in 2006, aged 34.

World's Tallest man ever
Robert Wadlow of Alton, Illinois, measured 8ft 11in at his death aged 22. A pituitary gland problem had given him unusually high levels of human growth hormone, and he was still growing when he died from an infection caused by a faulty leg brace, which he required to walk.

He was known as the “Alton Giant”, and is buried in a half-ton coffin.

World's Tallest living man
Sultan Kosen, of Mardin, Turkey, born in 1983, is the world’s tallest living man according to Guinness World Records. He is 8ft 1in tall. He also has the world’s largest hands.

World's Tallest woman ever
Trijntje Keever, of Edam in the Netherlands, was 8ft 4in tall at her death aged 17 in 1633. She was 6ft 7 at the age of nine and was visited by Frederick V, King of Bohemia, who was curious about the “nine-year-old girl taller than every man in Europe.”

World's Tallest living woman
Believed to be Yao Defen of Anhui Province, China, although the Guinness Book of World Records has not confirmed this. She is 37 years old, and said to be 7ft 8in tall.

World's Shortest man ever
Gul Mohammed, of New Delhi, is the shortest adult human being ever, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. He stood just 1ft 10in. He died, aged 40, of respiratory problems brought on by heavy smoking.

World's Lightest woman ever
Lucia Zarate, of San Carlos, Mexico, is said by the Guinness Book of Records to have been the lightest woman ever, at just 4.7lb, and one of the shortest at 21.5 inches tall. Her calf was barely thicker than the average adult male’s thumb.

She died of hypothermia when her circus train became stranded in snow in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in 1890.
