Chip firm AMD claimed it set two world records on 2P server price performance scores.
The firm said that the scores used an HP Proliant DL385 G7 server using the AMD Opteron 6000 series.
For the TCP-E scores, the server used an Opteron Model 6176 SE running SQL Server R2 and Windows Server 2008 R2, delivering a score of $296 per tpsE. For TPC-C, the same combination scored $0.60 per tpmC.
AMD claims that its Opteron 6000 series of CPUs can use up 12 cores per processor, has better memory capacity bandwidth with four channels of DDR3 memory available for each socket, and up to 12MB of level three cache.
Nigel Dessau, head of marketing at AMD, said that his firm work in tandem with Microsoft and HP from engineering to marketing.
