Ferrari - World Largest Indoor Theme Park in Abu Dhabi set World Record 2011

Ferrari Theme Park in Abu Dhabi is set to open this week with the world’s fastest rollercoaster, which reaches 149mph (240 km/h). It is the first Ferrari Theme Park and the largest attraction of its kind.

Quoted in their official Website, Ferrari World Theme Park will open to the public today at 7:00 P.M., allowing guests to experience a wide selection of rides and attraction.

“We are excited to open our doors to the public earlier than previously anticipated, on Wednesday 27th October 2010 and we look forward to welcoming many guests to mark this historic day,” said Claus Frimand, General Manager, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.

“This will be the beginning of an exciting Inaugural Period, with the start of operations at the world’s first Ferrari theme park.” Mr. Frimand said.

According to Claus Frimand, the Inaugural Period will continue throughout November, leading up to a Grand Opening in December with the official launch of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.

Ferrari Theme Park featured attractions are the following:

• Formula Rossa, the world’s fastest rollercoaster, reaching speeds of up to 240 km/h, emulating the feeling of being in a Ferrari F1 car
• G-force experience taking passengers on an adrenaline-pumping ride up over 62m, through the roof and back down again
• State-of-the-art racing simulators as those used by the Ferrari racing team
• Flume ride journey through the heart of a Ferrari 599 engine
• Driving and Racing school for junior drivers, with expert training
• Aerial voyage over Italy following a Ferrari

According to their official Website, Ferrari Theme Park is not just a park but a unforgetable experience that will spark the Ferrari spirit inside you.

Ticket prices range from AED 165 to AED 225 for general admission depending on your height. Premium admission requires higher bill which ranges from AED 270 to AED 375. Premium admission would give guests the priority to experience all attractions and access other benefits. Ferrari World Theme park will be open on a six-day a week schedule from Tuesday to Sunday, welcoming visitors from 12 noon each day.

World's Largest artificial date enter Guinness World Records - Lulu's Ramadan date festival Abu Dhabi

Emiratis enter Guinness World Records with submission of “largest artificial date” in the world

UAE. Emirati poet, Hamad Sarhan Al Darie and his partner friend, Salem Rebhi Al Silawi have submitted an entry to the Guinness World Records for “the largest artificial date in the world”.

Al Darie and Al Silawi – who are based in Abu Dhabi and hope to see the emirate recognised in the Guinness World Records with this achievement – have completed the design and installation of what they hope is the largest artificial date in the world.

They recently received preliminary approval for the project after submitting the artificial date’s specifications to the Guinness World Records’ Organising Committee.

 Dr Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahd, Minister of Environment and Water, inaugurates the Lulu Date Festival at a colourful ceremony at Khalidiya Mall in Abu Dhabi.

Speaking about the project, Al Darie said: "The idea to design the largest artificial date in the world - and possibly get Abu Dhabi mentioned in the Guinness World Records - was inspired by the historical and ongoing importance of the real date fruit in the UAE and Gulf region, not only as a source of food, but as a vital part of the region’s customs, traditions and social values.”

The artificial date, which took seven months to complete at a cost of AED1.7million (US$463,000) - is 10.5m wide, 6m tall and 5m in depth.

The massive date – which was built in three phases - is hollow on the inside and can accommodate up to 20 people.

The first stage of the date’s construction saw 15 main workers putting in nine hours a day for two and a half months and using six tons of iron for the date’s foundation. The second phase saw the 15 creators put in 810 hours of work, placing 600kg of fibreglass material on the outside of the date, while the third phase involved dyeing and installing the date, which took 24 days to complete.

Al Silawi said: "I am very pleased to take part in the preparation of such an innovative project and I’m looking forward to seeing Abu Dhabi gain entry to the Guinness World Records for the third time."

Abu Dhabi was first recognised in the Guinness World Records in 2008 when the organising committee for the Liwa Date Festival prepared the “largest dish of dates in the world”.
