Wings of Tatev - World’s longest Ropeway (Tramway) set Guinness World Record

The Guinness Book of World Records representative, Karim Valerio has officially declared Wings of Tatev, as World’s longest ropeway.

The world's longest reversible passenger aerial tramway, Wings of Tatev is situated at village of Syunik province, Armenia.

Tatev’s Wings is 5,7km in length and the deepest drop is at 320 meters above ground.

Papazyan stated importance of the certificate received from the Guinness Book of Records for the world’s awareness of Armenia. He said that, After all, we constructed the ropeway for tourists - not only as a means of transport. So we have one more occasion to tell the mass media bout the history of the ropeway – this time by means of the Guinness Book of Records, thereby contributing to a higher number of tourists.


“Tatev ropeway project is part of a program of renovating the Goris airport and constructing tourist centers”, said Papazyan.

The U.S. $50 million project, Wings of Tatev took 11 months for completion. The said project was implemented by the National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia. Various volunteers had contributed for this project, Ruben Vardanyan’s, the Russia-based businessman has contributed $28 million. In fact this amazing project was started with his fund.

The Wings of Tatev, Longest Ropeway Aerial Tramway will play pivotal role for the Armenia’s tourist industry development.

The Monastery was badly affected by the 1931 earthquake.

The Monastery of Tatev is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage site.
