Commonwealth Games (CWG 2010) medal tally: tight race between England, India, Australia rules. India grab ten medals to keep second position
NEW DELHI: India continues to be at the centre of attraction in the recently held Commonwealth Games 2010. Till now its performance has been up to mark. Before the start of the match India had set a target for itself to remain at number one or second position. Unlike its politician who let India down by mismanaging the show at the CWG 2010 the athletes have been different. They are giving their best so that India could bag as many medals as possible.
As things stand now, India is second to the Australians. India stands at second position by winning ten medals, including three gold medals. India’s athletes have been impressive in the shooting and archery ranges. Besides, they have done extremely well in wrestling and weightlifting. It is expected that more medals will come its way when other events unroll in the coming day.
Even on Thursday India continues with its golden foray. Pistol shooter Gurpeet Singh also won gold medal for India. On the other hand Vijay Kumar and Omkar Singh also snatched the gold medals. The fans are extremely happy with the way things are going on.
In the women’s wrestling, Haryana's Geeta won applause as she defeated her rival to win the gold for India. She won the gold medal in the 55 kg freestyle event.
