A giant tray of traditional Arabic sweet pastry has been recognised by Guinness World Records as the largest of its kind.
The tray (pictured left, featuring the Syrian flag), was 112 metres long, two metres wide and weighed four tonnes. It was prepared by al-Sultan Sweets,
one of the largest traditional pastry producers in the country, for the opening of the Damascus International Fair.

The main ingredients of the giant confection were filo pastry, semolina flour, nuts and clarified butter.
Last year, al-Sultan Sweets made a one-tonne box of sweets for an international exhibition in Damascus that it dedicated to the children of the besieged Gaza Strip.
