DALLAS - It was the "shot heard 'round the world,'" and a world record, set by one of our own Orlando Magic players.

On Saturday February 13, during NBA All-Star Jam Session in Dallas, Magic man Dwight Howard entered the Guinness Book of World Records by hitting the longest basketball shot while sitting down. After nailing one from half-court, Howard scooted back to 52 feet and six inches, flicked his wrist, and made history.

"I was just having fun. They asked me to do it before we got to Dallas, to 'break your own record,' and it was all in the wrist," Howard told FOX 35. "I talked to Reggie Miller before it and he said just flick your wrist, and it worked."

When asked if he was he genuinely surprised after he made the shot, Howard said, "Uh, it was one of those shots we practice every day as a team... just kidding."

"Superman" is a kidder and all-around performer, with cameos in Hollywood movies and a hilarious "This is SportsCenter" commercial on ESPN. In the spot, Howard is seen sporting the "Clark Kent" persona.

When asked if he would ever considere a side career as an actor, Howard said, "I've always wanted to be an actor."
