Meiji Seika Kaisha, Ltd makes chocolate and other products and the billboard has been erected outside the factory to catch the eye of train passengers on the JR Tokaido Line and the Hankyu Kyoto Line.

The billboard measures 166m in width, is 28m high and consists of 43 plastic blocks that look like chocolate and also light up.

Meiji Seika Kaisha Ltd have applied to Guinness World Records for the billboard to be registered as the world’s biggest advertising board made of plastic.

Namiko Abe has written an article about Valentine's Day customs in Japan on About.Com and reports:

"In Japan, it is only the women who give presents (mainly chocolates) to men. Japanese women are usually too shy to express their love. (Though it might not be true nowadays.) Therefore, Valentine's Day was thought to be a great opportunity to let women express their feelings."

Japanese companies, such as Meiji Seika Kaisha Ltd , have fully capitalized on this to boost their sales. Chocolate companies in Japan sell more than half of their annual sales during the week before Valentine's Day.
Men are supposed to return the favor of a Valentine’s gift one month later on March 14, “White Day”. This day is unique to Japan and the most popular gifts are usually jewelry, flowers and soft animal toys.
Meiji Seika Kaisha, Ltd will light up the largest chocolate bar billboard in the world each night between Feb 11 and 14.

According to the Guinness terms, the bar is 70% made from natural primary products – 500kg of cocoa beans and 300kg of powdered sugar. The record-setter bar will be kept in special conditions. Karen Vardanyan invited everyone to participate in a chocolate tasting event in Republic Square on October 16.

He said that an average consumer will take 450 years to eat such a bar.

Elizabeth Smith, who attended the ceremony, said this is the most impressive record she has ever seen. She congratulated Armenia, as well as the Grand Candy Company, for this achievement.

The previous Guinness record is a 3,580-kg chocolate bar made in Italy in 2007.

World’s largest chocolate bunny created in South Africa by Harry Johnson

The World’s largest chocolate bunny has been created in South Africa by artist, Harry Johnson.  This chocolate bunny is an exact replica of the iconic Duracell Bunny.

The chocolate bunny is 3.82 m tall (12ft 5in) and weighs a whopping 3 tons (2,721Kg) setting the new world record for the largest chocolate bunny.  The previous record was by Brazil with the bunny weighing in at 2.8 tons.

To prevent the chocolate from melting the bunny is stored in a special perspex housing with a cooling system.  After a week, the chocolate bunny is going to be broken down and 250 underprivileged children will get a chance to taste it.

You have seen the adverts where the Duracell Bunny has battery on his back whether he is mountain climbing or running around the city.  So, just wondering how many batteries it would take to keep a bunny this size going, or would it be one humongous D size battery?
