Guinness World Records Adjudicator Michael Sean Whitty measured the bottle and witnessed it being filled with grappa in the Sant’Artemio Park in Treviso on 6 June, with almost 6,000 people looking on.

The bottle required eight months of preparation, 200 hours of work and the skill of six Venetian glass-blowers. It has a diameter of 25cm, a circumference of 110cm and is 5cm thick.

Distilleria Bottega President Sandro Bottega dedicated the bottle to the Province of Treviso, to promote the culinary culture of the area.

Proceeds from the sale of the tickets to the record-breaking event were donated to the Alberto Rizzotti Association ADVAR, which assists the terminally ill and their families.

World's Largest Cheese Sculpture Guinness Record 2010 - Tanys Pullin

World's biggest Cheese Sculpture Guinness Record set by Tanys Pullin.

A 'cheese wedding cake' expert is hoping to smash the world record for the largest cheese sculpture with her half-ton cheddar crown.

Cordon Bleu trained chef Tanys Pullin, 46, spent 90 hours crafting it out of a 1,322lb block of Farmhouse Cheddar. She carved the sculpture in the shape of a crown to mark the anniversary of the Queen's Coronation on June 2.

After completing it yesterday Tanys said she was nervous but thrilled after completing the large-scale carving.

'I'm elated but it was very daunting,' she said. 'Can you imagine being given a massive round cheese and told you have to go into a fridge on one of the hottest days of the year to carve it?

'I was given a 600kg block of cheese. I spent about eight days carving the crown and did 12-hour sessions which did get a bit chilly in the fridge. 'Now it weighs just below 500kg which blows the current record out of the sky.'

To achieve the Guinness World Record the crown sculpture needed to weigh in excess of 290 kg (101lbs). Tanys's effort is just awaiting the validation from Guinness adjudicators.

Rules state that the sculpture must be made from a single piece of cheese and is not allowed to be supported by an internal structure.

Though she regularly makes wedding cakes out of cheese Tanys, from Wells, Somerset had never tried her hand at cheese sculpting on this scale before.

'My job is to make things out of cheese, but I don't normally sculpt them,' said Tanys.

'I'm a genuine cheesaholic.

'I live, breath and work with cheese most of the time. It's a great medium to work with.

'It's looking fab and I'm delighted. I hope other people will enjoy it too.'

The self-proclaimed Nigella Lawson of the cheese world began her career as a chef in London before owning her own cheese company in Dorset.
'I was trained in London at the Cordon Bleu school,' said Tanys. 'I then worked for several years for the Leadenhall Wine Company running their restaurant and now I have my own cheese company in Dorset.

'I am the cheese wedding cake goddess. I'm like the Nigella Lawson of the cheese world.'

Kevin Beer, who acted as a cheese consultant for the attempt, said he knows how unpredictable cheese can be.

                  World's biggest Cheese Sculpture picture

He said: 'Working with a natural material such as cheddar presents a whole host of obstacles.

'If you leave it to its own devices in a normal environment it will develop a mould. To prevent this, Tanys will need to keep the sculpture at a low and constant temperature.

'She will also need to spray it constantly with olive oil and wrap it up at the end of each session in damp cheese cloth to keep it moist and prevent cracking.'

The sculpture will be unveiled on the June 2 at this year's Royal Bath and West Show.

World's Largest Inflatable Craft set World Record 2010 - Bullet Airship

More than 70 years after the Hindenburg disaster ended the golden airship era, giant blimps will take to the skies again with the launch of the world's largest inflatable craft.

The pioneering Bullet 580 is a 235ftlong and 65ft in diameter ship that can lift payloads of 2,000lbs up to 20,000ft in the air.

It was inflated this week inside the Garret Coliseum in Alabama - one of the few facilities large enough to host the ship. The process took the developers at E-Green Technologies just over six hours.

The £5.5million craft can be flown remotely or with a crew. The company plan to build a fleet of hire vehicles that they will rent out for between £200,000 and £550,000 a month.

Chief Executive of E-Green Technologies, Mike Lawson, said: 'It's slow enough to be used for sightseeing, large enough to carry heavy cargo and enough volume of lifting capability to be flied 20,000ft unmanned. So you have a gift of all different technologies.'

Lift is provided by a system of seven bags filled with helium, while the inner hull is full of ambient air. Hydrogen was used in the 1920s and 1930s because helium was considered too expensive at the time.

The payloads are carried inside the outer envelope of the balloon, which is only one sixteenth of an inch thick yet 10 times stronger than steel. It is made from a type of Kevlar, which is the tough material used to make bulletproof vests.

Mr Lawson, said:'If you hit a hard landing, the airship is just going to kind of bounce.'

Although the airship only has a top speed of 80MPH it can take-off and land vertically. The craft is also able to hover over an area for up to a week at a time - something neither airplanes or satellites cannot manage.

The craft could therefore keep a close watch on oil spills like the one in the Gulf of Mexico or monitor pirates off the coast of Somalia.

It could also serve as a near space satellite for broadcast communications, missile defense warnings, weather monitoring and geophysical surveys.

In fact its first mission planned for later this year, will be a joint project of Nasa and Old Dominion University, which will measure moisture content in soil.

Mr Lawson said he was confident that airships had a future in the 21st century, despite their bad press in the past.

His business acquired '21st Century Airships' in November 2009, which was the world's leading airship research and development company.

The merged firm has already built and flown 14 prototypes, but the Bullet is their first commercial craft.

'Airships have undergone surprisingly little evolution throughout their more than 150-year history, and this is what makes our E-Green proprietary designs so desirable to government and commercial customers,' he said.

'Our airships are radically different designs that move beyond the performance limitations of traditional blimps or zepplins by combing advanced technology with simple construction and the ability to fuel with algae, protecting our environment.'

Algae is the latest biofuel exciting scientists. It draws carbon dioxide from the atmosphere when it grows and when the derived fuel is burned this same CO2 is released, making the fuel theoretically zero-carbon. Algae farms can also be created using brackish and waste water.

The Bullet also has a Water Condensate Recovery System, which reduces the need for helium replenishment.

The Bullet's first test flights are planned for this summer and the ship will be piloted by Captain Allan Judd who has been at the helm of smaller airships since 1986.

World’s largest chocolate bunny created in South Africa by Harry Johnson

The World’s largest chocolate bunny has been created in South Africa by artist, Harry Johnson.  This chocolate bunny is an exact replica of the iconic Duracell Bunny.

The chocolate bunny is 3.82 m tall (12ft 5in) and weighs a whopping 3 tons (2,721Kg) setting the new world record for the largest chocolate bunny.  The previous record was by Brazil with the bunny weighing in at 2.8 tons.

To prevent the chocolate from melting the bunny is stored in a special perspex housing with a cooling system.  After a week, the chocolate bunny is going to be broken down and 250 underprivileged children will get a chance to taste it.

You have seen the adverts where the Duracell Bunny has battery on his back whether he is mountain climbing or running around the city.  So, just wondering how many batteries it would take to keep a bunny this size going, or would it be one humongous D size battery?

World's Largest Bunny Collection

It started 18 years ago with an endearment and a plush bunny.

Today, Steve Lubanski and Candace Frazee live in The Bunny Museum, where they have the world's largest rabbit collection with more than 26,000 items. Guinness World Records dubbed them the largest in 1999 when there were only 8,437 pieces in the house.
                                 World's Largest Bunny Collection photo
Frazee counts and catalogs the collection and keeps track of visitors — hovering around 16,000.

The couple are surrounded by rabbits, from wallpaper to wind chimes, phones to faucets and sheets to screen savers. Thousands of items are in storage because there is no space left.

Erin Seeherman, 24, was visitor No. 15,976. She came from Philadelphia with pictures of her bunnies, Zeke and Nora, food for Frazee's rabbits and plans to buy lots of souvenirs at the museum gift shop.

"I was hoping it would be trinket heaven," she said.

Lubanski, 52, and Frazee, 53, met at a singles seminar in 1992. She called him "Honey Bunny" and he gave her a stuffed rabbit for Valentine's Day.

In the beginning, they gave each other bunny gifts on holidays. Then every day. Sometimes dozens a day. At the reception to their 1994 wedding, he dressed in a bunny costume; they did the bunny hop and ate carrot cake.

In 1998, they opened the museum, calling it the "hoppiest place in the world." Admission is free, by appointment only.

The couple have seven real bunnies and continue to expand their collection at antique, novelty and out-of-town stores. Even when they go on vacation, there are bunny influences — like the Rabbit Ridge Winery in Paso Robles or the Jackrabbit Trading Post in Joseph City, Ariz.

This time of year is like Christmas, because Easter makes stores nearly as bunny happy as they are.

The most asked-after item in the museum is an Elvis Parsley pitcher, Frazee said. But the most asked question? "How do you dust?"

world's Largest banana collection set Guinness World Record - Ken Bannister's Banana Museum

Over the past 38 years, Mr. Bannister has collected more than 17,000 banana-themed artifacts. He is the founder of the International Banana Club and Museum in Hesperia, Calif., in the High Desert northeast of Los Angeles.

On Jan. 8, he received a letter from the Hesperia Recreation & Parks District informing him the banana collection must go, because the district wants to bring in new blood to the city-owned space. It will be replaced by artifacts collected by the late John Swisher, a local historian. Mr. Bannister has until the end of the month to pack up his bananas.
The collection includes a banana golf putter, banana beverages, and a gold-sequined "Michael Jackson banana." Mr. Bannister organizes the goods into "hard" (brass, lead, wood, plastic banana wares) and "soft" (stuffed bananas, banana beach mats, banana tents). He estimates the effort has cost him over $150,000 over the years.

There are other fruit and vegetable museums. The Carrot Museum in England boasts more than 1,000 items. The National Apple Museum of Biglerville, Pa., has a related Apple Core Band. And the Vidalia Onion Museum in Georgia will open a new 1,500 square-foot space in April. Still, the banana museum holds the Guinness Book of World Records title for the "world's largest collection devoted to any one fruit."

It all began in 1972, when Mr. Bannister worked as the president of a photo-equipment manufacturing company. As a joke, a secretary handed him 10,000 Chiquita banana stickers to distribute at a manufacturers conference. She received them from her husband, a stevedore, and they were an instant hit at the conference.

Friends started sending in banana merchandise, which quickly crammed Mr. Bannister's office. Soon thereafter, he opened his museum in Altadena, Calif., where it stayed until it moved 80 miles to its current Hesperia location in 2005. Most of the items are sent in from fans who hear about the collection.

Mr. Bannister says he had visions of grandeur when he launched his banana empire. He issued shares of the Banana Club to friends and family, dabbled in selling merchandise and made numerous television appearances. The profits never came, but Mr. Bannister says the obsession was rooted in fun more than anything else.

Curating banana paraphernalia hasn't always been easy.

Twenty years ago, Mr. Bannister received a call at his photo studio: A Los Angeles County fire truck crashed into the front of the Banana Club Museum. A fireman had forgotten to set the brakes and left the engine running. Several hundred photographs were lost and the facade was boarded up for 11 months.

About 10 years ago, a three-pound can of banana-flavored tobacco from South America combusted after being in its pressurized can for a decade. No one was injured, and nearby objects were unscathed.

Keeping a "family friendly" collection has also proven tricky. If someone sends in anything "lewd, crude or lascivious," Mr. Bannister not only returns the item, but also mails a "de-merit" to its sender.

Mr. Bannister, who has designated himself the "Top Banana," has sent out 35,000 Banana Club memberships to people in 17 different countries. He claims his own yellow-colored Banana Club card has gotten him out of six speeding tickets.

world’s largest gilded image on paper

The record attempt for the world’s largest gilded image on paper on Saturday 13th March, during my visit I was shown around the cultural centre by many of the friendly staff and Centre Manager Mohammed Al- Ghamdi.

The Chocktan brothers are no strangers when attempting such a challenging Guinness world records title, as they had also taken part in the largest marbling painting with Fanar on 20th November 2009. These two brothers were notably keen to meet me to discuss how they plan to embark on this new attempt, whilst beaming with enthusiasm and appreciation for such historic art forms (Ebro painting and gilding) that are finally receiving around the world.

The world record attempt highlighted the launch of the Mus’haf Qatar in Doha as well as a five day Aqlam exhibition on Arabic calligraphy. The exhibition held at Fanar showcased the beautiful work that each calligrapher had put forward in the hope to be chosen to write the Mus’haf Qatar the calligraphy artists, Obaida Al Banki and Sabah Al-Arbili and all the participants were not only able to display their fine artwork to the viewing public, but also on hand to discuss and replicate many of their inscriptions.

Finally see this logo and scripture be presented in 22 carat red, white and yellow gold was of great importance to everyone involved.

Ahmed and Ekram had been tirelessly working on the gilded image from 9am- 4am commencing on Saturday 13th March and were absolutely committed to producing a spectacular gilded image on such a large scale.

As this was the first record for gilding on paper, I had a 6m² guideline in place to verify in order to approve this record. After assessing the percentage of gold used as well as the measurements which are 2.87m x 2.10m (9ft 8.98in x 6ft 10.68in), I took to the stage in the auditorium. Standing before the Qatari press, Qatar TV, hundreds of school children, tourists and visitors of the centre I proceeded to announce the Guinness world records title for the world’s largest gilded image had successfully been achieved by Fanar and stands as 6m² (64.58ft²).

World's Longest and Biggest Chocolate Bar set Guinness World Record

Rivarolo near Turin in Italy to judge the attempt to set a new Guinness World Records achievement for the longest chocolate bar, on Sunday 15 March.

This event was controlled by Teorema d’Immagine on behalf of Rivarolo Urban Center, a shopping mall which opened recently. A. Giordano, a local chocolatier, had been commissioned to make the chocolate bar, which was to be displayed outside the shopping mall.

The chocolatiers laid out the massive bar, and a large crowd gathered. When the bar was in place they decorated it and we waited for the mayor to arrive before taking measurements.

When I had finished taking measurements I stood back and prepared to talk to the crowd gathered around the attempt area. The length to beat was 6.98 metres. The bar measured a phenomenal 11.57 metres, and to rapturous applause and cheering I presented an official Guinness World Records certificate to conclude the successful attempt.

Largest meatball set world record by Glen Oaks Community College

CENTREVILLE A world-record attempt staged Monday at Glen Oaks Community College had the atmosphere of a tailgate party and the anticipation of a New Year’s Eve countdown.

In the end, officials from the Centreville-area school were confident a world record was set in the form of a 254-pound meatball. The attempt for largest meatball ended about 100 pounds less than organizers of the feat had planned, but they’re cautiously optimistic a new record stands.

I guess we learned that anything can happen when you try to set a world record, and if we fell short, I think I speak for a lot of people when I say we had a great time trying, said Lester Keith, a business professor at the college and a key part of the group that worked on the potential record-setting feat.

The mass of ground chuck was cooked in a wok-like pan and sealed inside an oven bag for about 32 hours, as its core hit the 160-degree mark around 5:30 p.m. Monday.
St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Tim Schuler was awarded the first bite and he gave the cooks a positive report.

It was perfectly seasoned  a nice taste, he said.

A number of participants remarked that it tasted like meatloaf.

Schuler and Wagoner were appointed the two officials Guinness representatives said would be needed to verify the event and that appropriate steps were taken to comply with the record book’s criteria.

The 30-pound portion removed from the core was reheated to a safe serving temperature, sliced into sandwich-size pieces and delivered to a St. Joseph County-based soup kitchen, Keith said. In all, the meatball yielded more than 600 sandwiches.

He said the final tally did not include the core piece removed nor did it include outer layer pieces that were too charred to eat.

At 254 pounds, the potential record-setting meatball is 32.5 pounds heavier than the current record-holder, set last year by Nonni’s Italian Eatery. Organizers had started out with 400 pounds of meat and additives, and were aiming for a 350-pound meatball.

Organizers of the event said a community outpouring of donations and support contributed to the success of the event. Keith said he expects word in the next month from Guinness officials, who will verify whether the community college's attempt is, indeed, a world record.

Dennis McCarthy, dean of students and the college official who ultimately OK’d the attempt, said he shudders to think what sort of record Keith, business professor Bill Furr and their peers may attempt to set next year.

Largest packaged product displayed in Kuwait - Guinness World Record

KUWAIT CITY, A new Guinness World Record for the world’s largest packaged product display was broken on Sunday at TSC Wholesale Center — Shuwaikh. The Sultan Center, Al-Mansouriya Consumer Trading Company and Olayan Kimberly Clark teamed up and Kleenex boxes were stacked by over 45 personnel in a span of 10-12 hours to achieve the 289 meters cubed historic feat in Kuwait.
Speaking on the occasion, which was attended by the companies’ top management, suppliers and TSC customers, Guinness World Record representative, Jack Brockbank said that the record is based on the overall total area and measurements were taken along the way.

“It is not the number of boxes; it is the meters cubed measurement that is judged, which in this case 289 meters cubed. I was present while they were constructing the packaged product and measurements were taken to verify that everything is done according to guidelines,” he said.
Brockbank added that the previous record was held in Abu Dhabi and that they had 269 meters cubed, therefore Kuwait has beaten that record by a whole 20 cubed meters. He awarded The Sultan Center, Al-Mansouriya Consumer Trading Co. and the Kimberly Clark team with Certificate of Guinness recognition.

“It is very impressive; I don’t expect anyone will beat that in the near future although the nature of record breaking is always evolving. This record will be shortlisted for inclusion in the 2011 Guinness World Record Book. I can’t say for sure whether it will be included because we have over 60,000 records in total and there are four to five thousand in each book,” said Brockbank.
General Manager of Al-Mansouriya Consumer Trading Company, a sister company to Jassim Al-Wazzan Group, Kapil Khosla commented that options given to them by Guinness to stack were bottles or boxes.

“We chose to stack boxes. This year is a year of recognition for us and we wanted to raise the bar further so we attempted to achieve this world record. It took us almost twelve hours and there were 45 people working with us. We started at 9 pm and finished at 8 am so it was a very hectic day for us. We didn’t imagine the amount of effort that it would take,” said Khosla thanking all the teams that were involved in executing this monumental display.
TSC’s Chief Commercial Officer, Faris Hamdan, added the TSC values its long lasting partnerships with it suppliers and that this record breaking achievement is the result of the solid teamwork between two companies.

On his part, Ali Abdul Rahman Al-Wazzan said that the company has had a long partnership with Kimberly Clark over the years and it wanted to do something to represent this long history.

Largest Toothpaste Collection set Guinness World Record - Dr. Val Kolpakov

Saginaw dentist Dr. Val Kolpakov may have the world’s most unusual collection of toothpastes.

Some are whiskey-flavored, some taste like curry and others like bamboo. One dates to World War II and is made with a radioactive compound.

But the toothpaste isn’t for Kolpakov’s patients.

Instead, the flavors are some of the 1,800 toothpastes Kolpakov has collected. He hopes the Guinness Book of Records will recognize him as owner of the world’s largest toothpaste collection.

“I’ve submitted my application, and since there is no record for a number of toothpaste tubes, they had to review whether they can open a new category,” said Kolpakov, a Russian native. “Finally it was approved, and now I need to submit evidence that I have all these toothpastes.”

About a fourth of his collection is displayed in the waiting room at the Denture Care Clinic, 1227 N. Michigan. Kolpakov works there as a denture specialist.

Kolpakov, known to patients as “Dr. Val,” said his interest in collecting tubes of toothpaste started when he read about Carsten Gutzeit, a German who collected 500 tubes.

“I thought that collecting toothpaste was a nice hobby for a dental professional. It allows you to learn more about your profession,” he said. “I had friends all over the world, so I asked them to mail me toothpaste from the countries where they lived.”

He began buying toothpastes on eBay and contemporary versions in stores.

world's largest ice maze - Buffalo festival

world's largest ice maze picture, world's largest ice maze photo, world's largest ice maze image, world's largest ice maze video, Buffalo N.Y. for the 2010 Buffalo Powder Keg Winter Festival.

Let it be known the world's largest ice maze measured 12,855.68 square feet and was constructed in Buffalo N.Y. for the 2010 Buffalo Powder Keg Winter Festival.

So says Guinness World Records.

A representative from Guinness was on site to measure the maze and issued a proclamation to festival co-chair Jeff Empric this morning on the plaza of HSBC Center, where the world's largest ice maze was constructed for this weekend's winter festival.

"Congratulations," said Amanda Mochan, a Guinness World Records adjudications manager, "and welcome to the Guinness World Records family."

"We can't wait to bring people down here and show them what a great festival this will be," Empric said as he stood in front of a podium made of — what else — ice.

The maze was completed last night, Empric said.

It breaks the old world record for an ice maze set in 2005 when the Pontiac Ice Maze was constructed during a Toronto festival using 1,940 blocks of ice and measuring 8,280 square feet.

It also was done at a fraction of the cost.

When organizers of the Buffalo festival decided to go for the record, they found out the Toronto maze cost more than $300,000.

But Buffalo was able to pull of the feat thanks to donations and volunteers.

Artic Glacier Ice company donated the 2,200, 300-pound blocks of ice.

Local businesses and foundations chipped in with $20,000 to have the ice trucked to HSBC plaza.

Dean Sutton Architects designed the maze, and some 50 volunteers spent the past week building it through snow, freezing rain and melting temperatures.

MS Freedom of the Seas is a cruise ship owned and operated by Royal Caribbean International. It is the namesake of Royal Caribbean's Freedom Class of cruise ships, and can put up 3,634 passengers and 1,300 crew on fifteen passenger decks. Freedom of the Seas was the largest passenger ship in the world.

The Freedom of the Seas was build at the Aker Yards drydock in Turku, Finland, which also is building the other ships of the Freedom Class. Upon its completion, it became the largest passenger ship ever built, taking that honor from Cunard's RMS Queen Mary 2.

Freedom of the Seas is 2.4 meters (7 ft 10 in) narrower than QM2 at the waterline, 6 meters (20 ft) shorter, has 1.5 meters (4 ft 11 in) less draft, is 8.3 meters (27 ft) less tall and 10 miles per hour (16 km/h) slower. Freedom however is the larger ship in terms of gross tonnage. While its gross tonnage was estimated to range from 154,000 GT to 160,000 GT, its official rating by Det Norske Veritas, a Norwegian marine classification society, is 154,407 GT, compared with QM2's 148,528 GT. Freedom of the Seas had the highest gross tonnage of any passenger ship yet built, until the 2009 completion of the MS Oasis of the Seas.

The ship has three swimming areas: an interactive water park, a dedicated adult pool and the main pool. There are two adults-only whirlpools cantilevered out from the ship's sides, the Royal Promenade sports, a coffee shop, Sorrento's Pizzeria, a Ben and Jerry's ice-cream shop, Vintage's winery, the Bull and Bear Irish pub, and many Duty-free shops. The 13th deck has a sports area with a rock climbing wall, the Flow Rider (an onboard wave generator for surfing), a miniature golf course and a full size basketball court. Other items include an ice skating rink, a casino, a Johnny Rockets restaurant, Wi-Fi capabilities throughout the ship, flat panel televisions in all staterooms, and cell phone connectivity.

The world's largest igloo is now sitting in Green Bay after more than two months of difficult team work by a group of prospective record-setters.

"I think we were all really relieved," says group leader Paul Steckart. "We broke out some champagne, had a couple drinks and kind of just sat there and stared at it."

The current world record was set in Canada by a group of engineers in 2008. Their igloo came in at 25 ft 9 in across and 13 ft 8 in tall.

The so called Bigloo that Steckart's group has built in Green Bay registers in at approximately 27 feet across and 17 feet tall.

"It's been 9 weeks since we started on it."

Throughout that time they have received all the proper paperwork from Guinness and just need to get all their documented information in order.

The next and final step - they will have the Bigloo officially measured Monday.

"We're going to have it on camera through one of our local TV stations. We'll have a notary and a witness." explains Steckart.

India’s Northeast state, Mizoram will be attempting to set a new Guinness World Record on ‘Largest Bamboo Dance’ locally known as ‘Cheraw’ on March 12, 2010. Around 11, 500 participants in unique colorful tribal costumes from all walks of life within and outside the state will perform this mega event exactly at 2:00 p.m. making it the ‘Largest Bamboo dance’ ensemble.

The Assam Rifles Ground not being big enough to hold so many performers at one time, dancers will attempt the world record on the main roads of Aizawl covering a stretch of 3 kilometers, which is expected to make it not only the ‘largest’ but also the ‘longest Bamboo dance’ in the world. The event is being organized by the government of Mizoram.

The ‘Bamboo dance’ is the most colorful and distinctive dance of the Mizos requiring special skills and a nimble mind to perform. The dance is believed to have originated way back in the 1st century A.D., while the Mizos were somewhere in the Yunan Province of China, before migrating to the Chin Hills in the 13th Century A.D., and eventually to the present Mizoram state of India. Some tribes living in South East Asia have similar dance forms in one style or the other with different names.

The world record attempt will coincide with the celebration of the state’s biggest festival ‘Chapchar Kut’, on March 11, 2010 at Assam Rifles Ground, Aizawl.

The state’s popular festival engages people of all ages, young and old, men and women dressed in their colorful costumes and distinctive head gears and unique beads, assemble and perform indigenous games, folk dances, singing traditional songs accompanied by beating of drums, gongs and cymbals. Handloom and handicraft of tribal arts are displayed for sale which goes together with luscious traditional cuisine. Modern music competition is sometimes held at this event.

It is important to note that Meghalaya, India’s popular Northeast tourist destination had recently set a Guinness World Record for the Largest Guitar ensemble.
