Mithun Chakraborty’s Dance show enters Limca Book Of Records

Mithun Chakraborty’s Dance show enters Limca Book Of Records.

Two weeks before he returns with the third season of Dance India Dance on Zee TV, actor-judge Mithun Chakraborty is on cloud nine. The original Bengali show, Dance Bangla Dance that is also judged by him, has entered the Limca Book Of Records for running 126 new episodes with the same contestants and judges for an entire calendar year.

Next, the show’s broadcaster, Zee Bangla, is eyeing the Guinness Book Of World Records for the feat.

“When we started that show, I didn’t know where it would lead us because it was an experiment. It was a new format that Zee had developed. We were trying to find genuine dancing talent in West Bengal. And look where it has reached today. It’s not only one of the most-watched shows there, but is also considered to be a huge platform for dancers,” beams Mithun, who will be back as the Kya Baat grandmaster on the Zee TV dance show next weekend.

“I’m sure, there aren’t many shows in the world that go on for that long in a year, without a break and with the same faces. The ratings also didn’t dip.”

The National Award-winner has also taken over from former Indian skipper, Sourav Ganguly, on the highly watched Bengali chat show, Dadagiri.

He has already completed a bunch of episodes and has taken over from the previous host, on the popularity charts too.

“I didn’t take on the show thinking of that,” he says, adding, “I was offered the show after Sourav left because of reasons best known to him and the channel. I’ve always enjoyed working with the network because I like the way they function. There’s no way one can complain about anything. And I had the dates they wanted, it worked out smoothly.”
