Cedar Point sets Guinness World Record for most people bouncing beach balls at the same time
Cedar Point is known for breaking records with their sky scraping roller coasters, but yesterday, two different kinds of records were broken by guests at the park.
Representatives from Guinness World Record were on hand as park guests succeeded in setting two new world records in beach ball bouncing and sunscreen application
First, 401 guests were able to bounce beach balls for 10 seconds to establish a world record for the most people bouncing beach balls at the same time, a new category for the famous world record keepers.
After establishing the beach ball record, the sun was shining and temperatures were around 80 degrees as 681 guests put on sunscreen at the same time, breaking the record set over a month ago in Ostend, Belgium, on June 25.
The two events were certified by an official adjudicator for Guinness World Records, Philip Robertson.
“Guinness world records is one of those institutions that everyone wants to take part in,” Robertson said. “It’s fun, entertaining, ordinary people doing extraordinary types of things.”
The events took place around 9:30 a.m. yesterday morning. Participants in the two record attempts were able to purchase discounted tickets, and portions of those ticket sales will be given to the American Cancer Society, according to Robin Innes, director of public relations for Cedar Point.
“Cedar Point is well-known for record-breaking coasters. Now, our guests can help us set other records at the park,” Innes said prior to the events. “Plus, the money goes for a good cause, the American Cancer Society. So, it’s a win-win for everybody.”
