Aisha Al Hamoudi - UAE's shortest woman

She might be just 88cm tall, but Emirati policewoman Aisha Al Hamoudi has huge dreams and an even bigger heart. Suchitra Bajpai Chaudhary meets her

The current world record for being the world's shortest living woman is held by 18-year-old Jyoti Amge of Nagpur, India, who measures just 62.7cm (24.7 inches).

Aisha has applied to the Guinness World Records to be listed as the world's shortest policewoman. The world's shortest living man is Nepal's Chandra Bahadur Dangi measuring 54.6cm (21.5 inches). www.guinnessworldrecords.com

Every morning, Aisha Ahmad Mohammad Al Hamoudi rises at 6am, offers prayers and gets ready for the office. By 7am she is on her way to work - the Al Bidiya Police Station in Fujairah - in the family car driven by her father Ahmad Al Hamoudi, a retired policeman.

Nothing extraordinary about this humdrum routine, except that the young woman in question stands just 88 centimetres tall, the average size of a three-year-old girl, and tips the scales at just 20kg.

"I accepted what God gave me with a smile because I think the Almighty has a plan for everyone. If he made me this height, he had plans to look after me," says Aisha, 31.

The eldest of seven siblings, Aisha realised she would never grow beyond this height as a child after a doctor diagnosed growth hormone deficiency. She is the only one among her brothers and sisters with this condition, caused by a lack of growth hormone produced by her pituitary gland.

World's Shortest Man Has Died in Rome - Mr Pingping

The world's shortest man, He Pingping, who was just 74.6cm (2ft 5in) tall, has died in Rome.

He Pingping, according to the Guinness World Records, the world's shortest man who was able to walk. He was born in 1988 in Wulanchabu, China

He was admitted to hospital two weeks ago after suffering a chest pain and died on Saturday, but his death has only just been announced.

Guinness World Records said he had made a "huge impact around the world".

"From the moment I laid on eyes on him I knew he was someone special - he had such a cheeky smile and mischievous personality, you couldn't help but be charmed by him," said Craig Glenday, Guinness World Records editor-in-chief.

Mr Pingping was in the Italian capital to take part in the filming of a television programme called The Record Show.

According to the TV production company Europroduzione, he had already filmed two episodes of the programme when he complained of feeling unwell.

"He started to feel slightly ill and we decided to take him to hospital. He entered hospital two weeks ago and had all kinds of tests, being a very special person he had to go though all sorts of tests. He went into intensive care three days after he was admitted," said Marco Fernandez de Araoz, communications director for Europroduzione.



He said that Mr Pingping died on Saturday afternoon and, at the request of his family, his body would be returned to China to be buried.

Shortest man in the world - Nepal

KATMANDU, Nepal -- A man who is only 22 inches (56 centimeters) tall left his home country of Nepal on Sunday in a quest to be recognized as the world's shortest man. Khagendra Thapa Magar is traveling to Europe to campaign for the Guinness World Record title. He applied to London-based group for a place in the record book in October, soon after turning 18, but said he has not received any response.

Magar's family initially filed a claim when he was 14, but it was rejected because he was not an adult and there was a chance he might grow.

They say doctors in Nepal have not been able to explain why Magar is so small.

"We are going to Italy to try to record his name in the Guinness Book of World Records," his father, Rup Bahadur Thapa Magar, told reporters in Katmandu. They plan to appear on an Italian television show to talk about his bid for the title.

Once in Italy, Magar, his father and a supporter will decide on their next destination.

His supporters saw him off from the Nepalese capital on Sunday, offering flower bouquets and garlands.

The current record is held by He Pingping of China, who is 29 inches (73 centimeters) tall.

World's tallest married couple and Longest Relationship World Record

World's Tallest and Shortest Men Meet

MYFOX NATIONAL) - Together at last. The world's tallest man met the world's shortest man Thursday at a shopping mall in Istanbul, Turkey.

Sultan Kosen, who stands 8 feet, 1 inch tall, is officially the world's tallest man according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Kosen welcomed China's He Pingping, the world's shortest man, to Turkey.

Twenty-one-year old Pingping stands at only 2 feet, 5 inches.

"I had a hard time seeing him. There is a big altitude difference," Kosen said, reported Sky News .

The two met at the opening of a Guinness World Records road show.

Kosen suffers from pituitary gigantism and holds the records for the largest hands and feet. Pingping was born with a condition called primordial dwarfism.

The event was part of the Guinness World Records live show, which allows the general public to try and make it into the record books.
