World’s Largest Solar-powered EV Boat - Germany

PlanetSolar’s Türanor catamaran, plans to circumnavigate the globe using only solar power.

Raphaël Domjan (the man that started the project), and Gérard d’Aboville (famous for being the 1st man to row across the Atlantic and the Pacific) will both Skipper
this EV (electric vessel) on it’s record breaking 50,000+km 140-160 day voyage. The Türanor will be making its way around the globe at a leisurely 7-8 knots and plans to make port several times along the way to help promote renewable energy and educate the general public on the origin of the project and its goals.



The solar-powered EV’s route will take it from the Mediterranean Ocean, across the Atlantic Ocean, through the Panama Canal, into the Pacific and then Indian Oceans and then finally through the Suez Canal.

The multihull EV Catamaran was built in the Knierim Yacht Club (located in Kiel, Germany) and launched on the 31st of March 2010 in the Baltic Sea.
