Buddhika sets Guinness world record

Well-known television actor Buddhika Rambukwella set a Guinness World Record by driving a vehicle with his feet with his hands handcuffed for 903 kilometres.

He began on his record-breaking venture from Point Pedro on March 18 and ended at Tissamaharama. it had taken him 15 hours with a normal speed of 60.2 km and the highest speed of 125 km to get there. Dr Geethanjana Mendis of the Sri Lanka Sports Ministry Medical Unit served as the judge for the record.

Rambukwella earlier attempted to drive a vehicle in reverse with his feet from Kandy to Colombo last year and was thwarted after the traffic controller ruled that the law requires drivers to have both their hands on the steering wheel while driving. later he established the record at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

The same issue would have raised if Tharunyata Hetak President Namal Rajapaksa and Director General Ronnie Ibrahim had not spoken up. I am grateful to them for their support. Traffic director Indu Karunaratne, the three forces and IGP also backed me, he said adding that many youth are waiting to establish records and the authorities should encourage them.
